The walking sidewalk program at school desperately needs volunteers. At the moment I have myself and one other volunteer. That means that only 2 mornings a week of aided drop off.
Ideally, we have 10 volunteers (2 people for every morning). One aids in drop off zone and the other to stop traffic so children can cross the road. We could also use some casual helpers to cover when people are sick or away.
I know it's a longer time commitment that many people want (20 minutes, from 8:35 to 8:55) and that it is at an awkward time but it is an important job because of the congestion around the school. I've also heard many people indicate that they would volunteer but they don't want people yelling at them. Most parents are grateful for the help and the only time I've gotten into a discussion/argument with people is when I've proactively gone to them and told them they can't park/drop off where they are. There have only been a few times that I have had to point out they are in a no stopping zone.
Whether or not you can volunteer please forward this to other parents.
Anyone interested can reach me at this email.
Thanks,
Morgan
